Tomorrow, August 19th, is 23 years since my Dad ~ Vincent passed away at the really saddening young age of only 55. Dad was a great man, really good fun, the life and soul of the party and bit of an all round prankster
I was so young when he died but I have fond memories of standing on his blue canvas shoes in the kitchen while he’s danced me around the room to Elvis Presley’s ‘Blue Suede Shoes’
I thought it fitting this weekend to work on a few ‘man’ recipes. A few ‘man-wiches’ especially so as last night my own man ~ Mick came home from work saying he was craving a good steak sambo… so I messed around in the kitchen and came up with a few beef ideas and one for the vegetarians out there, which turned out in particular, really wonderfully flavoursome, very satisfying and full of texture and colour.
Another thing I wanted to let you all know is today the official ‘Sydney Crave Festival 2012‘ Programme was launched in the Sydney Morning Herald. I’m delighted to announce that this year, on Saturday October 6th I’ll be taking part in the festival’s ‘World Chef Showcase Talks and Thoughts‘ section. I’ll be speaking about my work and shots and sharing a few techniques too along with 2 other photographers; Jennifer Soo and Nick Moir.
Tickets are $40 + booking fees + charges. The ticket price includes the Talks and Thoughts session of your choice plus access to the World Chef Showcase exhibition area featuring the latest in fine produce and drinks, cutting-edge kitchen technology and the Dymocks Showcase bookstore. Straight after the talk I’ll be doing a book signing too so hopefully I might get to see you there on the day

Do you realize how incredibly delicious this dishes look? Every single one. Can’t wait for the recipes and run to my kitchen to make these!

Gorgeous & lush photos as always – these dishes are screaming “Tuck in!”
So sorry about your Dad, losing family members is just awful.
On the topic of food… wow that haloumi sandwich looks delicious! I’ve never thought of putting it in a sandwich before.

Sorry to hear about your dad
Loosing someone that important must be heartbreaking. I can’t imagine it.
You had me at ‘man-wiches’ lol… I think the usage of fresh ingredients is a key to creating great food. Your visual presentation of the food on this site is top notch too.
Wow, the taste must be great, the picture you shows make me hunggry
