    Hi Katie,

I would love to pack up and go live on sandøya, a small island nestled in fjord in South West Norway. My family used to go there for summer outings and we would catch crabs and BBQ. Perfect.

    Hi Katie,

Just found you via Cup of Jo…thank you for the potato recipe…cannot wait to try it. Love the idea of being on a Greek island…actually on most islands.

    Happy 2013

Hello Katie. I have always wanted to go and spend time on Bruny Island near Hobart. It’s known for its fresh food and wines. I am sure I could find a spot for my own Little Greek Island right on Aussie’s doorstep.

While I have traveled to islands all over the world and indeed seen some beauties (Hawaii, Greek Islands, Sardinia, Hua Hin, Bali, Fiji, Caribbean to name a few), I would choose an island closer to home for my dream life. The island of Nantucket has a charm that you feel the minute you step off the boat. The cobblestone streets, gas lanterns and gorgeous gray shingled houses remind you of the island’s rich history and proudly preserve those memories for those visiting today. The town is an intoxicating mixture of world-class boutiques and some of the finest restaurants you will find anywhere. But hop on a bike and hit the trails and within minutes you are away from the hustle and bustle. Beautiful beaches are perfect for lolling away the days. Summers are bliss, but the island embraces all of its seasons, which is part of what makes it so appealing. From the Christmas Stroll in December to Daffodil Days in the Spring and the lively Fourth of July festivities complete with old-fashioned pie-eating contests and the local fire engine hosing down the crowd, every season on Nantucket is magical.

Some of my favorite islands are the San Juan’s in Washington state, USA. The scenery is beautifully serene with amazing vistas overlooking the Straits of Juan de Fuca and Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island.

If I could live on any where it would be Ile St Louis, a small island in the Seine In the heart of Paris. On the door step of Notra Dame and over the river from The Louvre,, boulangeries, patisseries, fromageries and charcuteries are interspersed with the most beautiful fresh produce. The wild strawberries sold in these little stalls have the most exquisite flavor. A true paradise for anyone who loves too cook – and eat!

    Hello Katie,
Thanks for the chance to travel to the Greek Isles vicariously through my tastebuds. I am sure if it is a book you relished I will also cherish it.

I couldn’t resist gifting myself your new cookbook this Christmas. At first it was the beautiful food photography and creative design that captured my attention. I have been contemplating diving into food photography and you certainly are a visual inspiration. Then I started browsing the recipes as was hooked. So original! I made your absolutely tasty Pearl Barley Salad With Harissa Spiced Chicken for the holidays. I was smiling with every bite–so a big thanks.

    Cheers and Happy Lucky 13,
    Anne

PS: I forgot to mention I would be content to live on
I actually imagine my favorite isle IS in Greece, maybe quiet Santorini or wild Mykonos? I too have kayaked around the San Juan Islands north of Seattle, a beautiful place for a summer escape. So many islands, each unique, to explore…I look forward to spending time on any that offer a chance to appreciate nature’s glory and include good food and drink AND dessert!

    Cheers to all,
    Anne

    Hi Katie! :)

This island choice was a no brainer for me! I, along with the hubs, would pack up our things and head out to the beautiful Island of Okinawa which is located just outside of Japan. It is an island of paradise where vibrant colorful flowers of the subtropics bloom year-round. The ocean water has an emerald-green sheen, and the coral reefs are among the world’s finest…which makes this place a perfect destination for scuba-diving! Okinawa’s history can be told through it’s old architecture, temples, and still standing castles. Did ya know that the people of Okinawa have the longest life and health expectancy in the world?! Anyhow, this is my island of choice!

    -Cheers…from another Katy :)

Hi katie, the island i would love to live on is a small island called Ithaki. it is my parents birth place and a place where i was welcomed and treated like royalty. I discovered that I loved the weather and the goats on the mountain side. I loved to sit with the old ladies chatting or waiting for the baker to deliver fresh bread and I listened to the old men telling stories of their youth. It was a very moving holiday and i discovered just how Greek I really was. To live there would be my idea of heaven and does not compare to any of my other travels.

    Hi Katie,
I love your website and book, and look forward to reading your spread in Delicious mag every month :) I think I already live on the best island, although it cannot be classed as “little”. Australia – city, country, coastal, tropical or outback, it has it all and I could never get sick of discoving everything it has to offer!

    Hello Katie

One of the funniest books I ever read was by Gerald Durrell ‘ My Family and other Animals’ – an English family’s adventure on the Greek island of Corfu. I have always yearned to spend time on a Greek isle like Gerald’s family but alas not yet achieved – on my bucket list. Perhaps this book could help tide me over!

Love your blog, many thanks Sally

You are so inspiring and your recipes are beautiful and not too difficult or ‘cheffy’. I love the mix of australian culture with Greek, Italian, Croatian (Mediterranean ) food. I have a Croatian background and nothing beats the seaside and good, honest home-cooking.
